6yo drowns in pond, body found after 20-hour search
BIJNOR: A six-year-old boy drowned in a pond in Bilna village under Naugawan Sadat police station area in Amroha. His body was recovered on Thursday after a search that lasted nearly 20 hours.The boy, Mohd Atif, was riding his bicycle near his home on Wednesday and did not return. His father, a scrap dealer, and other family members searched for him but found no trace. Late at night, his bicycle was found near a pond on the outskirts of the village, raising fears that he had fallen into the water.Police reached the spot and continued the search overnight. On Thursday morning, an SDRF team joined the operation and recovered the body after about two hours of effort. CCTV footage showed the boy heading towards the pond.Amroha SP Lakhan Singh Yadav said, “Police launched a search immediately after receiving the missing child report and continued it through the night with the help of divers and the SDRF team. The child was found in the pond the next morning.”The body has been sent for autopsy and a case has been registered against unidentified persons under section 137(2) (kidnapping) of the BNS.
